Komsio is the cradle of a Lappish child. It could be hung from the supports of the goahti or from a nearby tree where a reindeer could sway it with its antlers. To protect the child different magical charms were hung in the komsio. The silver, gently chiming cradle ball was thought to be a powerful repellent of evil spirits. It was especially effective against trolls, who sought to replace human children with their own.
